Do You Qualify for the California Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program?

If you live in California and are wondering how you are going to pay for your car insurance, the California Low Cost Autmobile Insurance Program (CLCA) may be just what you need to get affordable car insurance. Here are some details of the CLCA program.

The program is not designed to provide anyone with low cost car insurance. Instead, the state has decided to focus on providing an affordable car insurance to those who have already proven that they are responsible drivers, and who also have low income.

The auto insurance only provides drivers with liability, which means that it will not pay for damages to your car. The coverage meets the required minimum amounts for the state of California. It provides a maximum of the following three amounts:

* Bodily Injury (per person) – $10,000
* Bodily Injury (per accident – $20,000
* Property Damage (per accident) – $3,000.

Other coverage can also be obtained, which includes:

* Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury (per person) – $10,000
* Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury (per accident) – $20,000.

In order to qualify, the car must not be worth more than $20,000. The driver must not have been in an auto accident in which they were found at fault or have a moving violation of more than one point in the past three years. The driver also cannot be claimed on someone else's tax return, be at least 19, and have had a continuous driver's license for at least three years.
